What Does it Mean to Be Healthy

What does it mean to be healthy? There is so much more to being healthy than how you feel! The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of optimal physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease of infirmity”. Webster’s Dictionary defines health as “a state of wholeness in which all organs are functioning 100%, 100% of the time”. Health is not just how you feel; it is how you are functioning physically and mentally.

The way I see it, good health means a whole healthy body, due to regular exercise, good nutrition, lots of good, clean water, sunshine, a nervous system that functions at 100% with no interference, and adequate rest. People are exposed to so much better health propaganda these days that it is hard to decide what is relevant and what is not. Furthermore, many chiropractors treat symptom as they arise, such as a knee injury, stiff shoulder, or sore back. In other words, this treatment would be considered ‘sick care.’

Our type of care is not ‘sick care’ but ‘real health care.’ I don’t treat your symptoms; I treat your body and remove the interferences. Interferences are when a vertebrae goes out of alignment, the corresponding nerve may be affected which leads to symptoms in your body. Clearing the interferences is what I believe keeps you feeling good and enjoying real good health, and puts you on a path to recovery from illness or injury. After treatment that focus on eliminating interference in your nervous system, that knee injury, stiff shoulder, or sore back starts to feel better.

Remember, heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Unfortunately, a heart attack is in many cases the first sign of disease. You can’t wait until symptoms show up before you decide to act. Instead, work towards “a state of wholeness in which all organs are functioning 100%, 100% of the time” will lead to overall better health.
